Dear President Karimov,

We are very concerned about the lack of religious freedom in your country. Religious minorities that do not belong to the Orthodox Church or to Sunni Islam are harassed. In this regard, we highlight the case of Baptist Pastor Tohar Haydarov from Gulistan. He is serving a ten-year prison term on drug crimes which, according to credible sources, he did not commit at all.
We urgently call on you to improve the religious situation in your country as well as to have Pastor Haydarov immediately released.

Wir sind über den Mangel an Religionsfreiheit in Ihrem Land sehr besorgt. Religiöse Minderheiten, die weder der orthodoxen Kirche noch dem sunnitischen Islam angehören, werden bedrängt. Dabei möchten wir den Fall des Baptistenpastors Tohar Haydarov aus Gulistan hervorheben. Er verbüßt eine zehnjährige Haftstrafe wegen Drogenvergehen, die er gemäß glaubwürdigen Quellen gar nicht begangen hat.
Wir bitten Sie dringend, die religiöse Situation in Ihrem Land zu verbessern und Pastor Haydarov unverzüglich freizulassen.
